Yoga Sandesha – an exhibition on Yoga, Mind and Body

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM) at Cubbon Park, Bangalore is hosting an exhibition to create awareness about the benefits of yoga for the body and the mind. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr P Satishchandra, Director and Vice Chancellor, National Institute for Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), to mark the International Day of Yoga on June 21st. The exhibition has a host of information on the history of yoga, the various forms of yoga and attempts to highlight the science behind yoga. The people attending the event, including groups of school children, were addressed by Dr Satishchandra and Dr Sivarama Varambally of NIMHANS, about the general benefits of yoga and the progress that yoga research has made in recent times. As Dr Satishchandra noted, “The recent advances in technology have enabled many scientific studies in yoga. The International Day of Yoga gives us a chance to make the public more aware about the various benefits of yoga with a scientific backing.”

Also present at the function was Mr KG Kumar, Director VITM, who spoke about the significance of hosting a yoga exhibition at a science museum - “Recent studies have provided scientific backing to the practice of yoga. It is important for the public to be aware of these findings and an exhibition such as this aims to do that.”

The exhibition runs from 10am to 6pm till 15th July and is also running in NIMHANS till June 26th.
