Racing thoughts and worrying excessively Due to intense anxiety, a person experiences racing thoughts that makes them feel out of control. Anxiety can make the person worry to such an extent that they develop a headeache, dizziness, dry mouth, difficulty in swallowing and may become flushed. The constant worrying can cause disturbances in sleep too.
Breathlessness Anxiety and panic can cause a person to hyperventilate. Rapid breathing can be accompanied by a feeling of breathlessness and choking.
Increased heart beat A panic attack can cause accelerated heart which in turn increases their blood pressure. This may be accompanied by a tightening sensation in the chest.
Abdominal distress Fear and worry experienced due to anxiety can get manifest as abdominal distress, irritable bowels and nausea.
Physical changes in the body and fear of unknown Heightened fear elicits physical changes and disturbances in the body such as constant muscle tension, sweating, restlessness, numbness or tingling sensation in palms and feet. Sometimes, the individual also has a fear of the unknown or feels like they are losing control.
