Hypothyroidism An underactive thyroid hormone can show signs that include fatigue, weight gain, impaired memory, excessive sleeping, mood swings or sadness. Women in the age group of 30-40 years are at a high risk for hypothyroidism.
Hypoglycemia Low blood sugar can cause fatigue, tiredness, sleepiness and mental confusion. This is mostly experienced by people who have a sedentary lifestyle, poor food habits and a genetic vulnerability for the disorder.
Anemia or deficiency of iron This is commonly experienced by women who have heavy menstrual bleeding, eat less iron-rich foods, or have worm infestation in their gut. The signs include extreme tiredness, loss of weight, difficulty concentrating, and insomnia.
Vitamin B12 deficiency Deficiency in Vitamin B12, usually found in people following a vegetarian diet, can cause tiredness, aches and pains in the body, loss of appetite, mood swings, or low moods or instability.
Folic acid deficiency People who do not consume sufficient fruits and vegetables are affected by folic acid deficiency. This can lead to fatigue, excessive sleeping, mood swings and irritability.
Vitamin D deficiency Some of the symptoms include unexplained fatigue, bodily aches and pains, and difficulty thinking clearly.
Physical illness or mental health issue The psychiatrist may ask you to get a blood test done. Blood test can include measuring TSH levels, vitamin deficiency, levels of Vitamin B12, folic acid, iron and Vitamin D and presence of any other nutritional deficiencies. The test can also include hypoglycemia and diabetes.
